Unusual circumstances led to eleven defaults in one evening. There were four expected and declared. The matches look a bit skewed with one entire team defaulting. Match five only had three boards but the Barclays players were caught at work. The Central Line had serious problems earlier and was only getting back to normal and one Athenaeum player was misdirected by security staff.
Nevertheless, there were some really good games played, not least the nailbiting finish as Robin England delivered mate with his flag horizontal. We did also get three graded friendlies, good to be able to do that when the unexpected happens, like round eight.
